This first session in the series will address the basics of traditional project planning and management and of course the “what ifs”. Its important to remember, we’re talking about boats with histories. Ensuring the projects are finished on time, within budget, and within scope is a huge challenge. Research, process, predictability and innovation will all play a part. As a scientist and engineer, Richard Schuhmann planned and managed complex technical projects for over 30 years. He taught engineering and leadership coursework at Penn State, and at MIT he taught engineering design, supervised graduate hydrologic research in Uganda, and designed and taught the Institute’s project management curriculum.
